#PAKvWXI: This photo proves Lahore Qalandars is special to Grant Elliott

(Web Desk) – New Zealand’s Grant Elliott, who has arrived in Pakistan to play for World XI against the home side, has not forgot his time with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars. He was seen at the Lahore airport carrying a Lahore Qalandars bag which he may have received during the second edition played this year.

Lahore is like home to the 38-year-old batsman. He earlier said, “‘I’ve never been to Lahore so I’m really looking forward to that. I suppose, going to Lahore will feel like I am going home.”

Elliott will be remembered for ages to come after his brilliant knock in PSL which was followed by the iconic ‘bat drop’ moment. It will be exciting to see how he entertains the crowd at Gaddafi Stadium during three-match T20 series starting off tomorrow.

Pakistan XI and World XI will play T20 matches on September 12, 13 and 15. Talking about the historic series, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi told the arrival of World XI in Pakistan has opened doors for international cricket after security concerns following Sri Lankan team attack way back in 2009. He said PCB will also invite West Indies and South Africa for series.

World XI captain Faf du Plessis told media, “Me and the players understand we’re playing for something a lot bigger than us.” On the other hand, the skipper of green shirts Sarfraz Ahmed called it a great sign for home cricket, saying he would have been happier if Indian players were also part of the World XI squad.
